A few days ago, our designers began a discussion about kitchen cabinetry and almost everyone had an opinion of their own. Even though designs have changed over the years, wood has been one of the choice materials used for kitchen cabinetry. Many of our designers feel strongly about wood. They love the way wood can be utilized in different colours and shapes to create beautiful kitchens. Many of our projects which lean towards vintage décor have involved the use of wooden kitchen cabinetry and they have turned out exceptionally beautiful.
But wood in the kitchen involved the risks of acting as fuel in the event of a fire. It also requires regular painting, weathering and maintaining to make sure that it looks as good as it is meant to be. It is difficult to clean grease from wood because wood easily absorbs a lot of oiliness from the kitchen.
Interestingly, we noticed a considerable number of our designers favoring stainless steel as one of the materials for kitchen cabinetry. The fact is that stainless steel has become a popular choice for a lot of kitchen appliances. And if you want to maintain a fluid design in the kitchen, stainless steel cabinetry could be a great choice.
Additionally, stainless steel is a lot easier to maintain when it comes to removing oil and grease from its surface. Hot soapy water can be easily used on stainless steel without concerns about damaging the surface. Wooden cabinetry, on the other hand, may deteriorate if you use soapy water very regularly to clean them up.
Choosing the right material for kitchen cabinetry is very important if you are looking for a highly-functional, low maintenance kitchen. Stainless steel is beginning to gain popularity for its durability and easy maintenance. Do you have any other cabinetry materials in mind? Let us know about them in the comments below.
